Quality Assurance
KAPP quality assurance is two-fold: quality control and quality assurance.
Quality control takes place in new, state-of-the-art measuring rooms that were upgraded in December 2009. The measuring rooms are equipped with most up-to-date measuring equipment and provide excellent measuring conditions in terms of low temperature fluctuations (<0.2 K in 24 hours) and a constant humidity level at 40% which allow for repeatability of measuring results down to 1000th millimeters.
The measuring rooms are equipped with four ZEISS coordinate measuring units and a Wenzel gear measuring unit. Profile, form and position measurement on cubic and rotation symmetrical components up to 5 tons, measuring of rotors, gears and special profiles, hardness, surface as well as air and sound level measurements are not unknown to us and are executed by highly qualified staff.
Internal acceptance procedures of KAPP machines ensure their functionalities prior to delivery. The entire machine geometry and movements of all machine axes are tested. Newest laser technologies measure and optimize our machine axes allowing the machine to grind within a 1000th of a millimeter. The machine check is documented and archived. A pre-acceptance report is compiled and provided to the end customer. This procedure builds trust with our customers and provides them with proof that their machine meets all functional requirements.
In 2007, KAPP established an internal as well as external claim management within its quality assurance program in order to identify potential weaknesses early and increase satisfaction. In cooperation with individual departments and suppliers, the KAPP quality control staff is tasked to implement appropriate measures to prevent errors, to monitor them and to successfully bring them to a close.
On the principle of process-focused quality management, KAPP quality assurance staff cross-departmentally optimizes or re-configures processes, and assists in department implementation.
